Returning to Online Services: Church Letter July 15, 2020
July 15, 2020
Dear Vineyard Family,
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:6
We are living in unpredictable times. We have gone through so much in this year as individuals, as a nation, and as a church family. We need to allow the promise of this verse to take root in our lives as we confront the many changes and uncertainties around us.
As many of you have heard, both California Governor Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti have restricted houses of worship from meeting since Covid cases have been rising in the state of California and in Los Angeles county. As a church body we do not want to do anything to compromise the safety of others. We are complying with the restrictions and will move to having everything online for the foreseeable future with no planned date for resuming indoor gatherings. We will continue to be online at 11 AM on Sundays on Facebook and YouTube.
As we start another round of restrictions it can be upsetting and disheartening, but I want to remind you that God is for us, God is with us, God is in us, and God is working around us. He is very present, and He will make a way forward. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will give us the courage and strength to not just endure but to flourish in these hard moments.
I want to remind us that wherever we are, we are representing God, whether we are at the grocery store, at the beach, or on social media. Let’s represent Him well. Allow Him to use you to come against fear, anger, and the anxiety that is rampant around us. Allow Him to use you to become an agent of peace, truth, and kindness. Church, this is our time to love our neighbors well, show concern for others, and serve the needs of our neighborhoods. The Bible says, “Let us not become weary in doing good.”
One more thing: Our staff will begin reaching out to those who are part of our church family. We believe that it is important to stay connected and we want to be present for you and join you in praying for all your needs.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at jimmyreyes@valleyvineyard.org.
Stay calm, stay connected, stay the course,
